The chef’s kitchen is a highlight, with a butcher block waterfall countertop and oak cabinets. The kitchen is ergonomic and efficient. Every appliance is positioned so one can move from one task to the next effortlessly.

Cooking is a passion for the couple, so they made sure to include features that fit their lifestyle. From a propane range that supports their off-grid aspirations to a convection oven that doubles as a microwave, broiler, and air fryer, it’s clear this kitchen was built with love. The ingenuity continues throughout the house. D’Arcy incorporated a drying rack that floats over their sink and drains directly into it. The couple even installed an in-drawer dishwasher so no one has to argue over dishes. Every inch of the  kitchen screams functionality, from the granite sink to the deep storage for spices and trash. 

But the space-saving solutions don’t end in the kitchen. The home’s design includes a pull-out couch for guests, while storage beneath ensures nothing is wasted. This dual-function couch allows them to host at least six people in the house at a time, and that too without having to sacrifice a single board game. The office loft will leave you speechless…

One of the home’s standout features is the office loft, accessible via a sleek aluminum ladder that doesn’t block access to the refrigerator or disrupt daily life. The loft creates a clear separation between work and home life, something that Olivia, a naturopathic doctor and doula, appreciates wholeheartedly. 

Even the couple’s cat, Nanaimo, is part of the design. With her own window access to Olivia’s office and carefully crafted hideaways for her litter box and exercise, it’s evident that every family member’s needs were considered. D’Arcy went above and beyond and even baby-proofed the house for Osiris by adding tuck-away stairs that prevent him from accessing the upper levels unsupervised. The bathroom was another area where the couple’s creativity shined. Inspired by Japanese design, D’Arcy and Olivia created an atrium-style shower with large windows that offer views of the stars and surrounding trees. Complete with a rainfall showerhead and a four-foot-wide bathtub, this bathroom is the perfect place to unwind after a long day. 

Heating and sustainability were also major priorities for the couple. They installed in-floor radiant heating, powered by a tankless combi boiler. One of the most striking aspects of their tiny home is the thoughtful integration of Osiris’s space. His loft is painted with an intricate design inspired by the night sky, brought to life with fiber optic lights. D’Arcy built a custom baby gate for added safety, and the loft is designed to even accommodate a second child in the future. 

Their son’s corner in the living room is another thoughtful touch, complete with his own tiny couch, toy storage, and space to explore his books. Even though the house is small, there’s still room for Osiris to enjoy his childhood, from running around with his walking trainer to playing in his mini-library.
