Pictures with a deep message about the sad reality of today’s world
We live in a society that is nothing like it once was
Today’s world is nothing like how it used to be. Values and habits are completely different from the past and there seems to be no stopping this trend. Children of today would rather sit behind their computer or smartphone screens than play outside. Parents would rather watch the latest TikTok than read a good book. On public transport, you’d be lucky to speak one single word with someone.
Luckily there are some artists who appear to be aware of the reality of today’s world. On the next pages we’ve collected some artworks that carry a deep message within them.

Book umbrella
This picture is a good example of someone trying to take good care of their children. There is a deep meaning in this picture. Are you able to figure out what the artist is trying to say? We love the symbolism that the artist has managed to incorporate in this image.

Emoticon art gallery
People nowadays seem to have more interest in the emoticons they can send with their phone than actual artwork. This picture shows what a museum might look like in the future, when these pictures have completely taken over the space that used to house the greatest artists the world has ever known. This really says a lot about society.

Helping others for the views
This picture has a deep meaning in regards to people who seem to only want to do something good if they are filming themselves. There are a lot of videos out there today of people giving money to the poor or helping others, but almost nobody does this without filming themselves anymore. Back in the day, you would simply do it because it was the right thing to do.

It’s all about money
This image hits where it hurts. We’re cutting our forests for profits on a massive scale. Where the world used to be full of gorgeous forests and other examples of nature’s wonders, we seem to be hellbent on destroying nature to turn a quick profit. Just look at the Amazon rainforest, for example! The artist who made this image was able to make a very smart depiction of this issue.

Likes don’t always help
You’ve probably seen video’s of homeless people performing beautiful concerts in subways and on street corners. These kind of video’s get millions of likes on Facebook and other social media. But unfortunately the artist can’t feed himself on likes. Maybe it’d be better to financially support the homeless person. We seem to have forgotten how to help eachother.

Dinner rituals
People nowadays seem to be unable to enjoy their meal without first having posted it on social media. Unfortunately this comes at the cost of not actually enjoying the meal itself. Like visualized on the previous picture, likes aren’t sustenance. By the time you’ve applied the right filters, the food has already turned cold.

Social media vs the outside world
This picture really says it all, doesn’t it? People nowadays are so dependent on social media that they’re unable to see that they could just walk outside and enjoy the real world. This is one of the best artworks depicting our current society that we’ve seen in a long time.

The world before social media
This picture is like a nostalgic trip back in time. It shows how much our life has been “simplified” (it’s up to you to say if this is good or bad) since social media. We know we preferred it the old way. Which one of the social media do you think is depicted in the smartest way?

Appreciating what’s important in life
This image really tells a story. People are so busy with chasing success nowadays, that they forget that the important things are always nearby. Family, friends, love and nature. It’s good to keep that in mind. The creator of this image really makes you think.
