Spectacularly Foolish Rider Without a License Rides Recklessly — Then Makes Everything Worse When He Sees the Police

There are moments in life when you should simply accept your losses. If you’re already driving around without a license because it was previously revoked, the one thing you don’t want to do is draw attention to yourself.
But this motorist apparently thought he was starring in an action movie — turning a minor offense into a serious crime within seconds.
Head over to the next page to find out what happened:
The incident took place in Conselice, a small town in the Italian province of Ravenna, according to local outlet RavennaToday. The main character: a man already well-known to authorities. His driver’s license had been confiscated some time ago. Most people in that situation choose the sensible option: take the bus, grab a bicycle, or get a ride. But this man seemed to view traffic laws more as friendly suggestions. So he simply got behind the wheel again.
Officers of the Italian military police recognized both him and his car the moment he drove through the village. At that point, he still had a choice. He could have stopped, accepted his punishment, and hoped the judge would show some mercy. Instead, he chose the worst possible option: he hit the gas.
When the officers signaled him to pull over, the man floored the accelerator. What followed was a short but dangerous chase through the narrow village streets. He put not only himself at risk — other drivers and even pedestrians had to jump out of the way to avoid his reckless maneuvers.
The chase didn’t last long. Police managed to box him in after a brief pursuit. What could have been a relatively straightforward fine for driving without a license escalated dramatically. By fleeing and endangering others, he turned a simple violation into a criminal case.
The man has now been charged with resisting a public official — a serious offense under Italian law, one that carries hefty penalties. His car was also immediately seized through an administrative procedure.
He’s now walking home and will soon have to explain himself in court. His attempt to dodge a mere fine has cost him his car and may earn him a criminal record.
It doesn’t end here:
It wasn’t a quiet day for law enforcement in the Lugo region. During a large-scale police operation, the man without a license was far from the only one caught. Five other individuals were charged as well. One person was arrested for carrying a brass knuckle hidden in his car — classified as illegal weapons possession. Another driver was found with a full set of burglary tools in the trunk. And two more drivers made life unnecessarily hard for themselves.
Both tested positive for drugs during a preliminary test and then refused to cooperate with the official medical examination. Legally, that’s a terrible move in Italy: refusal is treated almost the same as an admission of guilt, with the maximum penalty attached. Once again, it shows that honesty really does pay off in the long run. And anyone who drives without a license and then tries to outrun the police should be grateful if they don’t end up spending the night behind bars.
