Woman discovers unpleasant surprise on family photo, immediately files for divorce

Susan and her husband had been married for years. As a surprise, she decided to organize a photo shoot. But once she got her hands on the photos, it marked the end of her marriage.
Immortalizing love
It was like a fairytale wedding. While Susan heard from friends that they often argued with their husbands, everything between her and John was always smooth sailing. You have to record something like that, Susan thought. So, she decided to immortalize their love in the form of a family portrait.
But that didn’t go quite as expected…
The photographer
Susan contacted a photographer she had met through a colleague. This photographer mainly specialized in weddings, where he always managed to perfectly capture the love between two lovebirds. The love between Susan and John was still as fresh as it was at their wedding, so this photographer seemed like the perfect choice.
She quickly made an appointment.

The photographer was very enthusiastic. Of course he wanted to portray their love! He considered it a great honor. As far as he’s concerned, he could even come by the next day. Susan was pleasantly surprised by the enthusiasm of this professional. “Come by!” she said.
They quickly went over the details, after which they agree on a time.
The photoshoot
The next morning, Susan revealed the plans over breakfast. John half choked on his coffee. Susan was very happy that she had been able to surprise him like this. That afternoon they already went into the garden to get the location in order. It was a beautiful autumn day. The leaves were already slightly discolored and provided a beautiful natural decoration. There was little wind and the temperature was very pleasant.
John just didn’t seem to be able to enjoy the nice weather. It seemed as if he was nervous, how he kept opening and closing the buttons on his shirt. He couldn’t stand still either. Susan knew John didn’t like pictures. This was probably why he was acting so nervous. Before she could care too much, the photographer was at the door.

John was stark white. All color was gone from his face. He was shaking on his legs as well. He shook hands with the photographer, but didn’t dare to look at him. Susan thought it was very strange that John was so nervous. Apparently, his stage fright had gotten a lot worse than she remembered. Even the presence of the photographer, Paul, could not reassure him. While they got along so well at the barbecue where they’d previously met, John didn’t say a word now.
Susan was already worried that the photo would be less fun than she had hoped, but she never expected the final result.
The photo
John looked into the lens with a nervous smile on his face. Susan had a quick peek before the photo was taken. To her relief, John looked quite handsome after all. And the twinkle in his eye was back too. Was this surprise still a success?

Susan didn’t know what awaited her. She was about to make a discovery that would turn her life upside down. John had kept a secret all these years, but a camera doesn’t lie.

The result
Susan decided to not look at the photos until after work. The shop where she worked was very busy, so she couldn’t make any time. On the way home she made a stop to buy a frame for the most beautiful photo. She would hang it prominently in the living room. She was so proud of her marriage!

She drove home full of enthusiasm. Once home, she opened her email inbox and scrolled through the photos. Each and every one of them were works of art. She had picked the right photographer! What great photos.
But one of the photos left Susan in shock…
The unveiling
It was one of the photos where John’s entire body was in the picture. At first glance it was just a beautiful photo, but suddenly Susan noticed something. She thought about John’s nervousness the day of the shoot and how badly he’d been shaking his legs.
What she saw then caused her whole mood to change. This couldn’t be true!
Zooming in
Hesitantly, Susan slowly zoomed in on part of the photo. Unfortunately, this confirmed her dark suspicion. The discovery she made would turn her life upside down. The proof was in the photo. She was already past the denial stage.

Susan had zoomed in so far that one detail now took up her entire laptop screen. It was the ring on John’s finger. Susan looked at her own wedding ring, which was decorated with little flowers. Her husband had an identical ring. Tears welled up in her eyes at what she saw before her.

Another ring
The ring Susan saw on her laptop screen was one without flowers. Much to Susan’s surprise, this was not their wedding ring. The ring on his finger had been a present from a childhood friend. This confirmed Susan’s fear. For years she had suspected that he had been in love with a classmate in his youth, and that he actually liked men.
Susan slammed her laptop shut and stared out the window in a daze. Then the puzzle pieces fell into place and she suddenly knew who this childhood friend was.
The confrontation
When John got home from work, Susan decided to confront him right away. She was waiting for him in the living room, the printed photo in her hands. She had thought for a long time and was quite calm.
When John walked in and saw the evidence in her hands, he knew it was time to tell the truth. He sat down on the couch with her and stared at his feet. He heaved a deep sigh.

It was as if a huge weight had been lifted off his shoulders. He could finally tell the truth to his wife. He had struggled with his sexuality for years and had never dared tell Susan.
