10 Natural Ways To Whiten Your Teeth At Home
When we ask you what color a healthy smile should have, most of you will probably say a shiny, pearly white. But to tell you the truth: things are a bit trickier than that.
While everyone’s natural teeth color differs, this doesn’t mean that all yellow teeth are healthy teeth. If the yellowing is because of bad oral hygiene, tobacco, coffee, tea, plaque or certain medications, you may have damaged your natural enamel layer, causing your teeth to be more yellow in color.
Luckily, there are multiple ways you can lighten the color of your teeth with. Today we’ll show you 10 natural ways to get whiter teeth!

1. Pineapple and orange
Did you know that you can whiten your teeth with fruit? Fruits and vegetables as a whole contain organic acids that can help maintain the current color of your teeth, but some of them can actually lighten the color. If you want whiter teeth, add pineapples and oranges to your shopping list. These fruits contain an enzyme called bromelain, which has been shown to whiten teeth.

2. Turmeric
We know, this sounds crazy. Turmeric is a spice with such a strong yellow color that it will stain anything it comes into contact with: your hands, your cutting board or your clothing. But this spice, which is also used as a dye, can actually whiten your teeth! Turmeric has been used in traditional medicine to fight gum disease and mouth bacteria, among other things. Many also swear by its teeth whitening capabilities. Dip your toothbrush into 1/8 teaspoon of organic turmeric, apply it to your teeth, let it sit for 3 minutes, rinse, then brush your teeth like you normally do. The results won’t be astonishing, but it will help some.

3. Strawberry paste
Just like turmeric, berries will stain things too. But did you know that the citric and malic acids found in strawberries are a great stain remover too? Make a paste from 1 strawberry and 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, apply it to your teeth and let it sit for 5 minutes. Then rinse and enjoy your stainless teeth!

4. Hydrogen peroxide
This is the big gun. You’ll want to be careful with what is essentially the working ingredient in bleach. You can however, add a small amount to some homemade toothpaste, using its bleaching power to whiten your teeth. Here’s a recipe for homemade toothpaste with hydrogen peroxide:
•4 tablespoons baking soda
•2 tablespoons coconut oil
•2 tablespoons hydrogen peroxide
•10 drops cinnamon oil
•10 drops clove oil
•A few drops of stevia (optional

5. Baking soda
The jack-of-all-trades of kitchen ingredients: baking soda. This all-purpose wonder can whiten your teeth as well. Mix a few teaspoons of baking soda with some water or lemon juice to make a paste, apply it to your teeth, leave it for a minute and rinse it off. Or you can make the homemade toothpaste found on the previous page, which also uses it as an ingredient.

6. Activated charcoal
Ever used black toothpaste? The working ingredient in this teeth whitening solution is activated charcoal. This substance clings onto the teeth-staining tannins that are found in almost every food and drink. With continues use, it will whiten your teeth. You can make your own powerful teeth whitening substance at home, by mixing a small capsule of activated charcoal with a tiny amount of water. Apply to your teeth, let it sit for several minutes, then rinse!

7. Banana peel
Another fruit to help you whiten your teeth! The inside part of a banana peel is full of great vitamins and minerals like potassium, magnesium and manganese, which have been found to help lessen stains on your tooth enamel. Rub the peel on your teeth for a few seconds, let it sit for 10 minutes (keeping your lips away from your teeth so you don’t remove it), then brush your teeth.

8. Oil pulling
The lauric acid in coconut oil helps remove bacteria from your teeth and gums, while also clinging onto toxins and drawing them out of your teeth. Regular oil pulling will reduce plaque and staining. So what do you need to do to reap the benefits of this powerful remedy? Simply swish a tablespoon of coconut oil around your mouth for 15 minutes, then spit it out. You’ll need to repeat this once a day.

9. Apple cider vinegar
If you swish apple cider vinegar around your mouth before brushing, you’ll whiten your teeth. Just don’t do this regularly, as too much of this can actually damage the enamel. Doing it occasionally gives you a powerful tool to whiten your teeth.

10. Bentonite clay
Just like activated charcoal, bentonite clay will bind itself onto the stains on the surface of your teeth and help you remove them. It’s also chockfull of vitamins and minerals that help strengthen your teeth enamel.
