1. The Door to Hell (Turkmenistan)

The Darvaza gas crater, also known as the Door to Hell or the Gates of Hell, is a unique place in the world. While digging for gas, the ground collapsed in a sinkhole and started leaking methane gas. Wanting to contain it, Soviet geologists set the gas on fire to prevent it from spreading. It has been burning continuously since 1971. In January 2022, President Berdymukhamedov publicly declared that a method to extinguish the fire needs to be found so that the effects on the environment and public health can be curbed.

2. Grand Prismatic Spring (USA)

This spring is the largest hot spring in the United States and the third largest in the world. It is located in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. It was first discovered by geologists in 1871, who gave it its name because of the coloration of the spring. The colors are those of a rainbow, which you can also get by shining white light through a prism.

This nature park is part of Singapore’s plans to raise the quality of life by improving the amount of greenery and nature in the city. It has since become a popular tourist attraction. Visitors can walk on a walkway between two of the larger Supertrees, from which they can enjoy a panoramic view of the Gardens.

Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon on Navajo (a Native American tribe) land in Arizona. The Navajo name for the canyon is Tsé bighánílíní, which means the place where water runs through the rocks.
